Davines Community Beach Clean Up
Malaysia is facing a significant plastic pollution problem, being one of the largest producers of plastic waste in Southeast Asia with an estimated 0.94 million metric tons of mismanaged plastic annually.
Approximately 8% of this waste ends up in the ocean, threatening marine life and ecosystems.
Despite producing vast amounts of plastic waste, Malaysia's recycling rate is only about 24%, highlighting the need for increased recycling initiatives and public awareness.
As an extension of our Ocean Keeper Campaign, we would like to contribute to the efforts of keeping our environment clean, especially our beaches.
This coming World Ocean Day 8th of June, we are going down to Pantai Remis, Kuala Selangor to do a beach clean up! And also a Recycled Plastic Workshop where you can learn how to sort, shred, melt, and mold plastic into new items, such as Keychain. Volunteer and join us as a participant! Every small little efforts count and let's all do our part for our community.
